Assurance of Salvation

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, you can rest assured in your salvation and have the confidence of knowing that you will be with Him in heaven one day. May these truths of His word comfort you and give you peace.

From God’s word, we know that:

Salvation is for all. It is a gift of eternal life. All we have to do is believe that Jesus who died for our sins is Lord and that he rose from the dead, and with our mouth profess our faith. He then gives us his Holy Spirit within us as our helper and seals our belonging to him.

John 3:16
16For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. 18Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Romans 6:23
23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 8:1-2; 16
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
Romans 8:38-39
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 1:13-14
13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Luke 12:8-9
8“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. 9But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.
Romans 10:9-13
9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
John 14:26-27
26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

If you are already saved, that is wonderful and I hope that this has reassured you. If not, pray something like this:

God, thank You for who You are. You are our good Father and I believe that You have made me and desire relationship with me. I believe that You sent your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me. Jesus paid for my sins- past, present, and future. Thank You, Jesus, for doing this for me. I believe that You are the only way to the Father and that eternal life is found through You alone. I ask you to come into my heart and wash me clean. Thank you for the free gift of salvation that I do not have to earn. I ask that you reveal Yourself to me through Your Holy Spirit. I want to know you, have relationship with You, and spend forever with you. In Jesus name, amen.

Congratulations, all of heaven rejoices with you! Now, go tell someone that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior.
